Remember Pearl Harbor, as Author Bill Lascher Brings WWII Adventure to Oberlin’s Mindfair Books

Sat 3/11 @ 2PM

Ben Franklin Oberlin, aka Mindfair Books, hosts world-class authors on a regular basis. Now the venue hosts Bill Lascher, a Portland journalist, who speaks about and signs his acclaimed nonfiction book Eve of a Hundred Midnights.

Think your honeymoon was hell on earth? Lascher rediscovers the true WWII story of Melville Jacoby, a handsome foreign correspondent specializing in Far East affairs, who fell for Annalee Whitmore, a Hollywood scriptwriter turned reporter.

Their 1941 wedding coincided with the unleashed Japan’s Imperial war machine blazing its way through the Pacific — with the newlyweds barely keeping one step ahead of the fighting.

Admission is free.
