Ready for Summer

A place in the sun, just for us. And it’s right around the corner. It’s not too early to start making plans with our most popular annual post: the CoolCleveland 2017 Summer Festivals Guide.

And while we’re patiently waiting for the inevitable change of seasons that our region is famous for, there’s plenty going on indoors and out. Maybe we’ll see you at the cactus and succulent show at the CBG in University Circle, or at the Full Moon Latte Throwdown at Passengers Cafe in Ohio City, or with Cleveland’s women-led Burning River Baroque presenting a program on the emotions of women at Lakewood Congregational Church.

There’s something for everyone this week: NEOSonicFest descends all across town, CityMusic riffs on David Bowie, and Wizard World Comic Con welcomes Klingons, zombies and Timelords. We tip our porkpie hat to local arts educator Santina Protopapa as she accepts an offer to take her talents to Lincoln Center. NEOS Dance Theatre brings their multimedia Hip-Hop ballet dance r. evolution to EJ Thomas. And speaking of multimedia (and DB), Cleveland’s glam punk outfit Vanity Crash melds their music with some of my Bowie retrospective at Yorktown Lanes this Saturday. Enjoy it while you can. Summer will be here before you know it. —Thomas Mulready
