Cacti and fleshy succulent plants such as aloes may seem slightly out of place in a place like Cleveland, with its gloomy Land of Mordor-like climate. But who knows, with global warming, perhaps the local Midwest Cactus and Succulent Society know something we don’t? And soon saguaros or fig cactus will grow here in the ruins of former downtown as readily as they do in Sonora and Sri Lanka.
Be ahead of the curve on succulents and cacti by attending the 2017 MCSS Plant Show and Sale, happening for two days at the Cleveland Botanical Garden. Available for admiring and purchasing will be the plants themselves, plus container gardening and custom-pot gear, soil, and advice.
Some of the intel will come courtesy of an expert from Klyn Nurseries, talking cactus and succulent care 2:30pm both days of the show. Admission to the MCSS show/sale comes with the Garden’s “Big Spring” special, at the rate of $12 per adult and $8 per child.
