The late Congressman Louis Stokes’ daughter Lori has been as successful in her own sphere. While her father and uncle, former Cleveland Mayor Carl Stokes, made their mark on politics, she forged a career in television news spending three decades working her up to her current position as co-anchor of Eyewitness News This Morning at WABC-TV in New York.

She’ll be coming back to her hometown to speak at The Temple-Tifereth Israel in a program titled “Lori Stokes Remembers Louis Stokes,” sponsored by the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage — part of a yearlong tribute to the Stokes brothers. She’ll join a panel of other Clevelanders who knew them — local TV news anchor Leon Bibb, former broadcast properties owner and Maltz Museum founder Milton Maltz, civil rights leader the Rev. Dr. Otis Moss Jr., former Forest City executive Albert B. Ratner, and Plain Dealer columnists Phillip Morris and Brent Larkin.

She’ll also be doing a book signing at 2pm, prior to the 3pm program, autographing copies of The Gentleman from Ohio, a biography of her father released last summer, a year after his death in August 2015.

General admission is $12, which includes admission to the Maltz Museum next door to the Temple-Tifereth Israel. To reserve your seat call 216-593-0575 or go to maltzmuseum/the-gentleman-from-ohio/.
