Fri 3/10 @ 6-10PM

The next set of openings at the 2371 Prospect Gallery features the work by one of Cleveland’s most intriguing artists, ceramicist Kristen Cliffel. If “ceramics” makes you think of pots and bowls, that’s a far cry from what she does. Her narrative ceramic sculptures tell layered stories about role women are cast in by society and how those shape her identity for good and bad. She was recognized for her distinctive work with a 2016 Cleveland Art Prize in 2016, a Cuyahoa Arts and Culture Creative Workforce Fellowship and an Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship.

Hernew show Stages is her first solo show at 2731, although she showed at its precursor, the Busta Gallery. Cliffel will do an artist talk at the gallery Thu 3/16 @ 6:30 which will also feature her handcrafted Crown Royal cocktails.

Also opening at the reception Fri 3/10 are This Ride Isn’t Moving: I’m Not Getting Off, colorful works on paper by Cleveland Institute of Art faculty member Tony Ingrisano that focus on infrastructure systems, both natural and manmade and Kristina Paabus’s Until, working on paper that combine drawing and print processes.
