Starwood Festival Holds WinterStar Ball at the Beachland to Raise Money for the July Festival

Winterstar

Sun 2/12 @ noon

The week-long Starwood Festival was founded back in 1981 at Case Western Reserve University to celebrate the Pagan/New Age/alternative lifestyles with music, speakers, workshops, art-making, drum circles, jam sessions, ceremonies and more. Over the years it’s moved around, from Pennsylvania and New York to various spots in rural Ohio. Recently it’s been held at a campground in Pomeroy, in southeastern Ohio, where it will take place this year July 11-17.

To raise money for the festival’s expenses and give adherents a little taste of their summertime bliss, the organizers are holding the WinterStar Faerie Ball at the Beachland Ballroom. It opens at noon with a blessing and closes many, many hours later with a drum circle. That’s followed by an afternoon of workshops and presentations, and an evening of performers including MC. Rev Baby Bear from the Church of the Subgenius, Miguel Sague, Awen, Brian Henke, Crystal Ball Band and Morticia’s Chair. Alas, they won’t be able to stage a version of the festival’s famous Saturday night bonfire at the Beachland. Suggested donation is $5-$20.
