Come to Musica to Honor David Bowie at ‘Bowieoke’

Sat 1/7 @ 8PM

It’s been a year since David Bowie left us but it’s unlikely his influence will be dwindling anytime soon. And at Akron’s Musica local band Vanity Crash, influenced by Bowie’s glam-rock, will be hosting Bowieoke, at which bands, solo artists and audience members will be performing Bowie tunes.

In addition to Vanity Crash, artists participating include Beyonderers, Brian Lisik, Frigid Touch, Michael McFarland, Missile Toe, Marc Lee Shannon, Jakob Ward and Nick Wilkinson. CoolCleveland’s Thomas Mulready will do a multimedia presentation on Bowie, Karen “Gilly” Laney, author of Mick Ronson: The Spider with the Platinum Hair, will be doing a book signing, Square Record will be giving away Bowie collectibles and the audience will be invited to come up and sing their favorite Bowie tunes karaoke-style.

Doors are at 7:30; entertainment begins at 8. Admission is $10 and it’s all ages.
