The Boston-based chamber orchestra A Far Cry isn’t typical of such ensembles. The self-conducted group doesn’t have a “leader.” It makes decisions collectively and each piece is guided by an ensemble-elected committee of five who make decisions about its process and interpretation.

Its repertoire is expansive as well, encompassing both traditional and experimental music, and it’s collaborated with artists such as Jake Shimabukuro, Yo-Yo Ma and Roomful of Teeth. And it garnered a Grammy nomination for its 2014 album Dreams and Prayers.

The group will perform at Baldwin Wallace at Gamble Auditorium in the Kulas Musical Arts Building. They’ll perform the Bach Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor, along with other pieces. (It’s part of the 85th annual Bach festival). Admission is $20 for adults; $5 for students.
