78th Street Studios Third Friday offers opportunities to see several new shows. The E11even2 Gallery always has some artist-decorated skateboards on hand. But this month it will have a roomful of them — more than 70 — in its new show Boardroom. And all the way at the top of the building, at the Popeye Gallery at Survival Kit, you can see at new show of abstract painting by Joseph Karlovec called Impulse Painting (pictured).
Stop in at Tregoning & Company Gallery where you can check out Light of Day/Light of Night, paintings by Jamie Morse, as well as Morning Joe: Recent Photographs by David Joseph, depicting fast food-type coffee cups in a variety of environments.
Wander around the buildings four floors of studios, galleries and shops, and you’re almost certain to find something that grabs your eye. You may even find musicians tucked in a corner, anything from a classical ensemble to an acoustic guitarist to a jug band. Arrive early — there’s so much to look at that you will probably be here all evening!
