Oh no! Roll over Beethoven and tell Frankie Yankovic the news! DJ Kishka will be performing his last monthly Polka Happy Hour at Happy Dog in Gordon Square. After more than a decade, the bearded one with the ponderous pile of polka wax will spin his final two hours of the dance floor-filling “happiest sound around.”

He’s timed his departure to coincide with his annual his event “How the Kishka Saved Christmas,” performed by “The Pickled Beet Players” at 8pm. The club will be decorated in the tackiest Christmas manner possible and the audience will get pierogi ornaments to color and hang on the fake tree. Kishka suggested getting there early because the evening is always packed.

Don’t worry though — you haven’t seen the last of him. He’s promising to continue to focus on his brainchild, Dyngus Day, an all-day-and-all-night multi-community celebration of polka culture and more, taking place the Monday after Easter, which he founded in 2011. He’s also working on something called The Kishka Show, which will air on Dyngus Day Monday April 17, 2017. Stay tuned.
