The Cleveland Vegan Society is hosting a Winter WineFest fundraiser Thu 12/8 at CLE Urban Winery in Cleveland Heights. The WineFest will raise money to benefit 2017’s Cleveland VegFest. The event is expected to be a fabulous night of music, friends, laughter and fun. Anyone who’d like to enjoy locally crafted wine and delicious vegan food should attend the event and feel good about helping to offset some of the costs associated with keeping the deliciously awesome Cleveland VegFest open and accessible to everyone.

“It is very important to the Cleveland Vegan Society Board that the VegFest remain a free event open to everyone,” shares Jen Kaden, founding board member and speakers chair. “We want people to be able to walk in and enjoy a fun and informative day whether or not they can afford to make a donation. In order to make that happen, we need to fundraise year round to get all of our expenses met. We are an entirely volunteer organization, so all the proceeds go to the VegFest budget.”

The 2016 attendance of VegFest increased by more than double, from 3,000 attendees in 2015 to 7,000 attendees in 2016. In 2017, VegFest will be returning to the Cleveland Convention Center, as the venue is a superb fit. Again, there will be a full line-up of a nationally regarded speakers, food demonstrations, film screenings, expansive vegan food court, cruelty-free marketplace, kid activities and live music.

“It costs $80,000 to put on the Cleveland VegFest at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. The money comes from grants, sponsorships, exhibitor fees, Cleveland Vegan Society memberships, donations and fundraisers like this,” says Jen. “As you can imagine, we are always in need of fundraising opportunities.”

Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door ($35 for Cleveland Vegan Society members). Ticket purchase includes a glass of wine or non-alcoholic beverage and heavy vegan hors d’oeuvres. The featured music is the talented and soulful country/Americana musical stylings of Jason Meyers. There’ll be a cruelty-free silent auction with great prizes, and for every bottle of wine purchased, $5 will be donated to the Cleveland Vegan Society.
