Pure Prairie League was one of number of second-string country rock bands that emerged in the early ’70s following in the footsteps of pioneers like the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers. Formed in southern Ohio, they released their debut album in 1972 and enjoyed several hits, scattered throughout the 70s and early 80s, including “Amie” (1975) and “Let Me Love You Tonight” (1980). Country star Vince Gill was in the band for four years from 1978-1982.

The group has been sporadically active since then, occasionally regrouping in one form or another to tour, but only releasing a single album after 1981. But they’re favoring Northeast Ohio with a second show this year, following up their February appearance at the Kent Stage with another. Empty Pockets opens. Tickets are $25-$35.
