When you walk around Tremont it seems like there’s a church on every block, a remnant of the days when virtually every block was home to a different ethnic group that has its own bar, shops and church. Now, of course, many of those churches have been adopted by other denominations or cultural groups or adapted to other uses entirely. But many still reflect their roots.

Learn more when the Tremont History Project presents its Tremont Historic Church Tour. The four-hour tour visits four churches: St. Michael the Archangel, Scranton Road Bible Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church and the strikingly ornate St. Theodosius Orthodox Church (pictured) which has become a symbol of Tremont.

Register from 11:30-noon at St. Michael The Archangel; call Dorothy at 440-617-0498 for reservations. The $20 ticket benefits the churches and the Tremont History Project. The tour rolls out at noon, and afterward there’s a reception at Prosperity Social Club.
