For 20 years, Paul Fayrewether fronted the Lorain-based band Fayrewether, which became known especially for its exceptional renditions of songs by Genesis, complete with theatrical accoutrements. At the height of the band’s popularity in the late ’70s and early-mid ’80s, they packed rooms all over the region.

Fayrewether attempted some original material and released several albums, but they never found that sweet spot where their Genesis roots morphed into an original style. They disbanded in the mid ’90s, and Fayrewether continued to perform on his own, utilizing his smooth warm voice, charismatic good looks and lingering echoes of Genesis’ prog-rock drama to continue to charm area audiences.

He hasn’t been on area stages all that much in the last few years but recently he’s been dipping his toe into the local music scene again. He’s performing now where the band began, in Lorain, at the Palace Theater in downtown Lorain. The show is billed as “The Many Faces of Paul Fayrewether” and is promising to be a theatrical spectacle with numerous costume changes. You’re invited to come in costume too (maybe as one of Fayrewether’s stage characters), for what’s billed as a Halloween bash to help conjure up the ghosts of the Palace’s past.

Tickets are $20.
