Fri 10/28 @ 6-9PM

Over the years, Cleveland-based artist Guy-Vincent has explored a wide range of media, including painting, collage, mixed media, found photography, moving and sound images, and performance, looking for the best way to communicate his underlying ideas at a given time.

His latest series of works, NeoPostFactum, features large-scale works on paper and canvas combine photographs, which are manipulated, layered and painted and drawn upon with writing and symbols

According to the statement written by Robert Thurmer, who curated the exhibit of these works opening at the Gallery at Tri-C East, the series “explores ancestry and family, combining two primal elements of human visual communication: the human face and its relationship to identity. However, the focus is not a personal connection to the people in the photographs, but the question of how images are interpreted both as depictions and as symbols. The images are intended to create filmic non-linear narratives — visual experiences of the past reconfigured, reinterpreted, and re-understood in terms of the present.”

It opens with a reception Fri 10/28 @ 6-9PM and remains on view though Wed 11/23.
