Lecture Explores Food Culture of Iceland, New Zealand and Australia

Iceland

Wed 10/26 @ 7PM

No one thinks of Iceland, New Zealand or Australia when they think of trendy national cuisines, and there’s good reason for that. Their locations and climates are not amenable to the sort of bountiful food production you find in, say, Mediterranean countries.

But people have to eat. Author Irene Shaland and photographer Alex Shaland, who have travelled extensively will talk at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History about the forces that shaped the kinds of foods people eat in those countries. Irene will also talk about her newest book, The Dao of Being Jewish and Other Stories: Seeking Jewish Narrative All Over the World, and will sign copies after the lecture.

The talk is free with regular admission which is only $8 after 5pm on Wednesdays.
