No, bats are not vampires disguised as birds. They’re actually helpful warm-blooded mammals that feast not on human blood but on pests such as mosquitoes.
If you’d like to encourage them to hang around your house and feast YOUR mosquitoes next summer so you don’t have to use chemical repellent means, come to the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes and build a bat box to install on a tree or fence on your property.
