Fri 11/4 @ 7:30PM

This year, the National Park System is celebrating its centennial, with special events across the country, including at Cuyahoga Valley National Park right in our own backyard.

As part of that celebration, the Akron Symphony is playing a special concert at EJ Thomas Hall, called National Park: Sights & Sounds. It’s focusing on music inspired by great American outdoor vistas.

Concertgoers will hear an excerpt from Jim Cockey’s The Gift of the Elk, Frederick Delius’ Summer Evening, Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land Suite, Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and excerpts from Ferde Grofé’s Grand Canyon Suite. Panoramic images from national parks, with a special emphasis on CVNP, will accompany the music. Joseph FireCrow joins the orchestra on Native American flute, as music director Christopher Wilkins conducts.

Tickets are $20-$55.
