Singer/songwriter Josh Ritter is from rural Idaho, but he has ties to northeast Ohio: he graduated from Oberlin College where he majored in “American History Through Narrative Folk Music,” reflecting that his interest in music began with artists such as Bob Dylan.
He recorded and released his self-titled debut album while at Oberlin in 1999. Since then he’s built an impressive catalogue with seven more albums including last year’s Sermon on the Rocks — and an active, full-time career that’s kept him steadily touring in the U.S. and Europe.
He’s currently on a fall tour, accompanied by a band that includes guitarist Mark Erelli, bassist Zack Hickman and drummer Ray Rizzo. They’ll be at the Kent Stage. Tickets are $30.50-$38.50.
