Love Lunes Over Buckeye Celebrates the Neighborhood with Music, Dance, Poetry & Art

Sat 9/24 @ noon-2PM

Note: originally scheduled for Sat 9/17, this event was postponed for a week.

The Buckeye neighborhood off Shaker Square has seen some hard times since it was a bustling Hungarian neighborhood many years ago. But it’s fighting back and new businesses and projects are starting to sprout.

Buckeye is inviting the greater community to come see what’s going on at Love Lunes Over Buckeye, featuring live music from the Land Brass Band and the Good Guys, dance, painting, poetry and food from CJ’s Angus, EDWIN’s restaurant and Checker Bar Ice Cream.

Central to the event will be hand-painted signage and poetry in the form of the “lune,” known as the American haiku, featuring uplifting and positive messages of love, hope and inspiration. The project began with local poet Damien Ware doing a lune competition with John Adams High School students. They were transformed into signs by artist Alan Giberson. Both will be doing demonstrations at the event.

Come see what it’s all about at Art & Soul Park on the corner of Buckeye and E. 118th Street.
