Sax player Dave Rempis arrived in the Chicago area in 1993 to study at Northwestern University, and quickly became a mainstay of the local music scene, performing with huge and diverse roster of ensembles, curating a concert series and even helping to organize the Pitchfork Music Festival. His musical interests are comprehensive to say the least.

One of those interests is improvisational music, for which he has partnered with other musicians in various configurations. One of those is the trio Gunwale, which features two rising stars of the Chicago improvisational scene: Ryan Packard whose specialty is percussion and electronics, and bassist Albert Wildeman, who moved to Chicago from the Netherlands to be part of the Chicago music scene.

The ensemble will be playing at the Bop Stop in a show co-produced with Cleveland’s New Ghosts promotions, which specializes in bringing experimental, improvisational music to Cleveland. Tickers are $10.
