Night Market CLE Has Atmosphere & an Eclectic Array of Performers

Asiatown

Fri 8/26 @ 5-11PM

The enchantingly atmospheric Night Market Cleveland on Rockwell in AsiaTown, which takes place on the last Friday evening of each month June through September, has grown in popularity by leaps and bounds. It’s a bustling welter of artisans, vendors, food from all over the Asian continent, much of it cooked before your eyes, and entertainment, including street performers.

The entertainment on the big stage is always diverse, but this month you can expect to see a particular wide range of artists. Chris Kulscar, the lead singer for post-punk band This Moment in Black History, will open the evening by DJing soul and funk cuts. He’ll be followed at 6:30 by Pittsburgh trio Appalasia (pictured), who blend Appalachian and Asian music, using instruments from each culture

The popular OCA Dragon Dance happens at 7:30, followed at 8 by Spartan Bhangra, a group from Case Western Reserve which performs traditional folk dances from Punjabi, India.

At 8:30pm, David Loy & the Ramrods will bring the American tradition of rockabilly to the stage, with the buzz worthy Marcus Alan Ward performing his soul/fun/electronic/jazz hip hop mix at 9:15 and Jae Andres DJing drum & bass tracks at 10pm.

The Night Market is free and it’s kid- and pet-friendly.
