Maltz Museum Hosts Program on Prosecuting Nazis in the 21st Century

As the 20th century fades away, and World War II and the Holocaust recede into the mists of history, it’s not only the survivors who are dying off, but also the perpetrators. And, as we saw in the case of Cleveland’s John Demjanjuk, accused of being a Nazi guard, attempts to exact retribution often focus now on the frail elderly.

The Maltz Museum of Jewish Culture is hosting a panel discussion on “Prosecuting Nazi Perpetrators in the New Millennium.” Former Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher will moderate a panel that includes Dr. Christoph Rueckle, Dr. Markus Hortsmann, Sascha Bloomer and Dr. Stefan Lode, the prosecution team in the trial of Auschwitz guard Reinhold Hanning who was convicted of 170,000 of murder earlier this year and sentence to five years in jail. He is currently 94 years old.

It takes place at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Humanities Center at Tri-C’s Eastern campus. It’s free but registration is required. Call 216-593-0575 or go here.
