Sat 8/27 @ 8PM

Kurt Elling is one of the most accomplished and distinctive jazz singers performing today. His verbal and musical abilities blend to create a bubbling flow of sound that features passages of scat and segments of intricate, tuneful poetry that hark back to the beatnik era interconnected seamlessly. There’s no one around who’s mixing it up with words and music quite as deftly and creatively as he does.

Elling, along with comedian Moody McCarthy, will be in Cleveland to perform for this year’s Shaking With Laughter: A Funny Fundraiser for Parkinson’s at PlayhouseSquare’s Ohio Theatre. It’s the 5th annual such benefit which raises money for the local Parkinson’s charity focused on finding a cure, founded by comedian/writer Marc Jaffe and retired ob/gyn Dr. Karen Jaffe are Karen was diagnosed with the disease.

“Humor is my antidote for trouble,” says Marc. “As a comedian, it was just natural for me to use humor when facing my wife’s Parkinson’s diagnosis. And using laughter has made it easier to bring others in and get them to understand and support our cause to find a cure.”

Tickets are $50 and $75. All the performers are donating their services and the organization is run by volunteers so all money will go to Shaking with Laughter.
