For Year 11, Broad Side of the Barn Moves to a New Barn in Grafton

Sun 9/4 @ 7PM

Even though his venue, Mike’s Barn in Elyria, has been gone for three years, Mike Yates has been putting on his annual show, the Broad Side of the Barn, anyway. It’s been taking place at different venues each year, and he’s hoping to raise enough to buy a new place with a barn that will provide a home for the shows.

This year he’s found another barn — located in Grafton — that he says has much of the feel of his old space, with land to roam around on, room for bonfires and lots of seating. It’s being provided by a regular, Jack Lugas, who used to attend shows at the old barn who will be this year’s host.

Some of the performers will be familiar too. Vocalist Mary Bridget Davies was much beloved in northeast Ohio before she went on to wide success in New York, performing in the show Love, Janis. She’s performed for Broad Side shows many times before including its initial years. Young Emily Keener (pictured), a Lorain county singer/songwriter/guitarist who isn’t even out of her teens yet but already has laid down the groundwork for a flourishing music career, will join her. Caylan Bryan rounds out the bill.

And, as noted above, the $25 admission will go to help Yates find a new permanent location. Table reservations are available in advance.
