Michael Brewer & Tom Shipley formed their folk duo in 1967, blending their voices in beautiful harmonies and capturing the spirit of the era in their socially conscious lyrics. Lightning struck in 1970, when they soared into the top 10 with “One Toke Over the Line” which earned them negative attention from Vice President Spiro Agnew.
They went their separate ways by the late ’70s but in the mid ’90s, they began writing, recording and occasionally touring again, made easier by the fact that both live in the same general part of the country (Missouri). They’ll be back to perform at the Kent Stage. Tickets are $20.
