Akron Art Museum Welcomes Families for a Free Art/Music Evening

InsideOut

Thu 9/1 @ 5:30-7:30PM

Last year, the Akron Art Museum came up with the idea of installing reproductions of works in its collection in various Akron neighborhoods to pique community interest in what’s inside the museum. It proved popular they brought it back this year, with 40 reproductions in eight neighborhoods.

As part of the program, the museum itself hosts Inside/Out “block parties” to celebrate each neighborhood. This week it’s featuring the Merriman Valley installations. The family-oriented event includes a gallery tour at 6pm, focusing on the works reproduced in Merriman Valley, hands-on art activities and the weekly Downtown@Dusk music series, this week featuring the eclectic “gypsy” music of the Angie Haze Project. It’s all free; admission is the galleries is free every Thursday.
