PHOTOSTREAM: Collinwood Ballot Box Project by Anastasia Pantsios

Fri 3/4

The Collinwood neighborhood won a $120,000 for Ohio’s first participatory budgeting effort for art projects. Artists living in the neighborhood submitted ideas for projects in four categories: neighborhood history, health eating, youth engagement and vacancy. And from March 4-9 neighborhood residents voted on which ones should be funded.

The voting kicked off with a parade that wended it way through the Waterloo neighborhood, with artists carrying signs promoting their projects. It ended up at the National Slovenian Home where displays were set up for each project and people could begin voting.
