10PM Studio in the 5th Street Arcades is a small space packed with an eye-popping selection of one-of-a-kind items.
Its stock is mostly created by local jewelry artists and sculptors working in that often dark and macabre style known as steampunk, although you’ll find plenty of lighter spirited items here too. Much of its wide variety of jewelry is made from recycled items and much of it is made by proprietor/artisan Patty McPhillips, who uses vintage pocketwatch and mechanical watch elements in her jewelry. Other local artists who work is featured include steel sculptor Jerry Schmidt, scrap metal sculptor Hy Snell and Gadir Zamir, owner of the Negative Space Gallery.
The shop also carries clothing that feels like it should have been worn to a Be-In in 1967 with an eclectic, global flavor that’s for real — some of it is imported from countries like Nepal. McPhillips also plans to open a second shop in the Waterloo Arts district.
