Our VIDEO sneak peeks the details and some of her “super, super exclusive top secret” designs she’ll be unveiling. “Creepy, decayed & beautiful” describes the work by local photographer Jen Hearn and her current exhibit, Choose Your Own Adventure.

So find your adventure this week. Check out our VIDEO of Cleveland’s first Downtown public dog park. Go Beyond Silicon Valley at the City Club. Meet legendary chef Ferran Adria at MOCA. View Cle-based Society for Photographic Education’s exhibition of actual prints Off The Web, On The Wall at ArtCraft. Hear Cleveland rock with Ian Hunter, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Speedbumps and Chrissy Hynde, who’s flying solo and coming home to the Akron Civic. It’s going to be a wild ride. Hullabaloo is described as a loud, uproarious and celebratory occasion, and that’s exactly what you can expect at Yellowcake’s 3rd annual fashion show. This year’s show, on Sat 11/15 @ 7:00pm at the Performance Arts Center of Cleveland, is set to be bigger and better than ever.

Yellowcake owner and designer Valerie Mayen has partnered with The Halo Foundation, as well as other non-profits that give back, to focus on the way art helps liberate orphans around the world. And the colorful collection she’s designed reflects just that. CoolCleveland correspondent Samantha Fletcher caught up with Valerie for a sneak peak of what’s sure to be one of the best celebrations of the year!

There are people who believe that life imitates art, while others hold fast that life is art, but perhaps it is the people who can find the art in everyday life — be it a disembodied head or decapitated building — who are the happiest.

Local photographer Jen Hearn is one such person, and the location of her current exhibit, Choose Your Own Adventure, exemplifies that…

The report “Poised for Progress,”published recently by the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, ranks Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s Clark PreK-8 School at the top of the list, in comparison to other Ohio urban schools. The study focuses in on each school’s performance index and value-added rating.

Clark scored 18.5 in value added, making it the top ranked among 81 schools (48 public, 33 charter schools.) The index is a composite of all applicable test scores, while value added calculates student achievement data over time to measure gains in learning. Good job CMSD! Keep the good news coming.
