Bands & Drag Queens Benefit LGBT Center Benefit @BeachlandCle

Fri 8/22 @ 8PM

Kent’s Scarlet & the Harlots are just beginning to make a dent in the consciousness of the Cleveland music scene with slots on some choice events. But they’re really beating down the door with their upcoming event at the Beachland Ballroom when they present an evening of live rock and roll music and drag queens to benefit the LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland.

If you haven’t seen this six-piece band you really should. Their music is ultra-proficient classic-style hard blues-rock, adorned with horns. The crowning touch is the vocals of classically trained lead singer Susan Fletcher, a dynamic frontwoman whose voice effortlessly carries deep wells of emotion.

The diverse bill also features Akron soul-rockers Winslow, Cleveland’s indie-style rockers Village Bicycle, and Miss Alexandra Huntington’s cabaret act, plus Cleveland drag queens Devinity Arriago, Akasha O’Hara Lords and Sonshine La Ray. And in addition to their own music, the bands will play selections from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Queen. I’m betting some of them will be sporting costumes too.

Admission is $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
