A space at the west end of Tremont’s Professor Avenue that formerly housed a couple of middle eastern restaurants kicked off 2016 by becoming Tandul, the neighborhood’s first Indian restaurant. Its big menu features food from both northern and southern India, both items familiar to those who patronize other area Indian restaurants and some that are new and unusual, including a large selection of goat-meat dishes. Don’t worry — there’s still a typically wide choice of vegetarian items, conveniently spotlighted in their own sections on the menu. Like many Indian restaurants, Tandul also features a daily lunch buffet.
