Do you like your dining experiences sociable, celebratory, even a bit rowdy? If so, thenthe new Hofbräuhaus Cleveland at PlayhouseSquare (not to be confused with the venerable, now-demolished Hofbrauhaus at E. 55th and St. Clair, across from Sterle’s) is the place for you.
With a 500-seat main beer hall and a 1,000-seat outdoor beer garden, you know that intimacy is not what this place is striving for, although there is a quieter dining space in the old Hermit Club if you’re lucky enough to go when it’s not booked for a private event. The menu is precisely what you would expect to go with a good German beer: heavy on heavies like schnitzel, sauerbraten and pork roast. It’s open until 2am Friday and Saturday.
