Markko Vineyard is one of the older wineries in the Lake Erie Appellation and is owned and operated by master winemaker Arnie Esterer who pioneered the growing of vitis vinifera grapes and uses French techniques during the fermentation process.
Winetasting parties do themselves a disservice by skipping this Conneaut treasure when they find its rustic presence in the woods down a driveway away from the vineyards. Inside is a warm tasting room that is heated by a potbelly stove during the winter months and expands to outside deck seating in the summer.
Esterer’s wines are finely-crafted and those who know good wine will be impressed by the Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir.
