Natalie Cole Performs at Severance Hall With @CleveOrchestra

Wed 12/11 @ 8PM

Pop/soul singer Natalie Cole’s long and illustrious career has covered a lot of territory and taken her a lot of places.

The daughter of two singers — Nat King Cole and Maria Hawkins Cole, who sang with the Duke Ellington Orchestra — she was born to be a musician.

She became an instant superstar with her 1975 debut Inseparable, which produced the huge hit “This Will Be” and won her two Grammys.

But she hit a slump by the end of that decade, and succumbed to drug abuse, which she conquered by the mid ’80s.

Since then, she’s made many film, TV, and concert appearances. She won several more Grammy nominations for her latest album of Latin hits, Natalie Cole en Español. And like many older singers (she’s now 63) who specialize in pop/soul with a tinge of jazz, she’s found a niche performing with orchestra.

She’ll be in Cleveland performing both her beloved hits and holiday music with the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall as part of its Celebrity Series.

Tickets are $40-$110.
