There’s Kirtland and then there’s Historic Kirtland, the latter being a small settlement formed by Joseph Smith and members of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints between 1831 and 1838. This site served as church headquarters and included a temple, farm, sawmill, schoolhouse and more. Visit (it’s free) and take a look around.
