Hower House

 

If you’re looking for a unique, historical experience in Akron, look no further than the Hower House. Tours of the home are offered Wed-Sat, giving visitors a window to Akron’s past and a peek at the lives of ¬†one of the successful industrialists that made the city what it is today. The home stands more or less unaltered, just as the owners left it.

The Hower House, a mansion built in 1871 by John Henry Hower, located near the University of Akron, has a total of 28 rooms on three different floors and 2.5 acres of land. John Hower was a very successful Akron industrialist and he traveled all over the world with his wife, Susan. They went to China, Japan, Australia, Europe, India, South America and many other countries.
