Gourmet market and café Vita Urbana opened in May 2016 in the restored Shoreway Building to serve residents in the rapidly expanding Battery Park neighborhood in Detroit/Shoreway. A project spearheaded by Mike Graley, who opened the Battery Park Wine Bar (now CHA Spirits and Pizza) in Battery Park’s early days, is actually several businesses in one. It’s a coffee bar, a grab-and-go lunch spot, a place to get a light dinner prepared by Chef Scott Popovic, and a market that sells wine, craft beer, cheese, charcuterie, pasta, olive oil and other specialty items, including locally made products from Cleveland Culinary Launch and Kitchen. Whether you want to eat something in its sleek, post-industrial setting, or whip a special meal at home, Vita Urbana has what you need.
