Munch A Simple Kitchen started life 17 years ago as a kosher vegetarian snack shop named Shticks in Case Western Reserve’s Hillel building. A couple of years later it moved to the law school across from the Cleveland Botanical Garden, where it serves breakfast and lunch to all comers from its tucked-away location on the second floor. It’s no longer kosher and it’s added some high-quality meat selections to the menu. But its roots are obvious in the preponderance of vegetarian and vegan choices it offers, many of them middle-eastern favorites like falafel and hummus. It’s inexpensive too: little on the menu of sandwiches, wraps, melts, pizza, and salads is more than $6.25.
