Chic but casual Bac Asian-American Bistro & Bar on Tremont’s main drag is the kind of place that, unlike some of the neighborhood’s destination restaurants, appeals to local residents. That’s because it serves quality Asian food that’s highly affordable and not just for special occasions. Maybe that’s why it’s outlasted some of the nearby high-end places.
Bac doesn’t stick to a particular Asian cuisine, offering a grand tour of the region on its eclectic menu, which includes miso soup, pho, pad thai and lo mein. It even has a distinctively non-Asian bacon guacamole and tosses flavorings like ginger and lemon grass into crab cakes and chicken wings to give them an Asian flavor. It’s also got a small but interesting menu of specialty cocktails.
