Lebanese food has become less exotic in recent years. Many of us know hummus, dawali, and falafel as well as we know hamburgers, thanks in part to the locally based Aladdin’s chain. Taza’s three locations are like Aladdin’s’ sophisticated older sibling. They offer a more exotic, fine-dining atmosphere and more complex plates on the same basic theme, featuring bright, not-too- spicy flavors and artful use of vegetables even in meat dishes. Their specialty is their shish grill where you can watch your order cooked on skewers. Fully half the menu is vegetarian in dishes like mujadara so hearty you won’t miss meat. But there’s chicken, lamb, beef and seafood if you want it.
