Cleveland Public Theatre

Since its founding in 1981, Cleveland Public Theatre has grown to encompass a campus of buildings, including a church, a space that was an Irish dance hall and its main building which was erected in 1911 as a vaudeville theatre called Gordon Square Theatre.

CPT is known for its engagement with experimental theater and social activism, mounting plays that explore innovative techniques such as devised theater and controversial contemporary issues. It’s also known for its outreach to groups not traditionally served by theater such as the homeless, the Hispanic community, and at-risk children and teens. Whatever you see at CPT, you know it’s going to be thought-provoking.
